STARTED YOUNG
Basketball became part of life early. Years of playing built the base, the love for the game and the drive to keep getting better.
About me
Played it. Studied it. Now I coach it.
01 Straight up
I have played basketball since I was young, competed in top teams throughout high school, then earned a full ride scholarship to play at Oakland City University in the United States.
Four years of college basketball taught me what it takes to improve when the standard rises. Skill alone is not enough. You need detail, discipline, game understanding and the ability to keep working when a coach corrects you.
That is what I bring into Skill Lab. The coaching is direct, personal and based on what the player actually needs. No random drill collection. No pretending every rep was good. We find the gap, work on it properly and build something that transfers to the game.
02 The path
Basketball became part of life early. Years of playing built the base, the love for the game and the drive to keep getting better.
Competing in strong programmes raised the speed, expectations and level of detail required to perform.
A full ride scholarship created the opportunity to play for Oakland City University and experience college basketball first-hand.
Daily practices, film, competition and coaching showed what separates training that looks good from training that works.
Now that knowledge is being passed directly to serious players aged 13 to 18 in Tauranga.
03 How I coach
My job is not to impress players with complicated drills. My job is to make them better.
You should know what we are developing and where it appears in a game.
Good work gets recognised. Poor habits get corrected. That is how progress happens.
Real basketball is decision making. Players learn to read, adjust and understand.
The goal is not to look skilled alone in a gym. The goal is to perform when the game gets fast.
I know what it is like to chase the next level. Skill Lab exists to make the work clearer, sharper and more effective.
SKILL LAB / THE STANDARD
04 What players can expect
Training should be hard enough to expose weaknesses and clear enough to show the player what to do next.
Coaching shaped around the player's level, goals and current habits.
Useful details the player can understand, apply and repeat.
Reps that challenge pace, balance, decisions and competitiveness.
Players leave knowing what to keep working on, not guessing.
